Bow and Shield

After a lot of hard work, I finally finished up with Tara's bow and some arrows, and I also finished my shield. Back in Willow Creek in 1994, I would have never imagined that I would ever create such items.

"Here you go, Tara," I said as I handed her the bow and some arrows. "What do you think?"

Tara examined the bow, and then she aimed it towards a rock and fired an arrow. The arrow hit the rock dead center.

"I like it, Ricky." She said. "It's light and sturdy."

I looked at the rock that Tara hit with the arrow, "Wow, good shot, Tara. Where did you learn to shoot a bow like that?"

"This is actually the first time I've ever used a bow," She replied. "Let me take another shot."

Tara raised her bow, aimed it at another rock, and then she fired an arrow. The arrow hit the second rock dead center.

"This must come naturally to you," I said. "Let me try!"

Tara gave me the bow, and I tried shooting a rock with an arrow, but I completely missed it. I tried to hit the rock a few more times, but I had no success and finally gave up.

"You need more practice, Ricky!" Tara said as she laughed and teased me.

I gave Tara her bow back, "That's okay. I think I'll just stick with my sword."

I went back to the crafting premises to grab the shield that I made for myself, and then I came back outside to ask Tara if she could fire an arrow at it. I wanted to give it a nice durability test.

"Hey Tara, do you think you could fire an arrow at my new shield?" I asked. "I wanna test its durability."

"No problem, Ricky." She replied. "Stand it up against the rocks and I'll fire an arrow at it."

I stood the shield up against the rocks. Tara aimed her bow and fired an arrow at it. The arrow hit the shield and slightly pierced through it.

"The arrow somewhat pierced right through it," I said. "Oh well, at least it will offer some protection."

Tara placed her hand on my arm, "Don't be so hard on yourself. It's the first time you've ever made one. I think it turned out just fine."

I smiled and gave Tara a kiss, "Thanks, Tara."

Well, me and Tara are about to head out for some more resource gathering so that I can make us some more equipment. We're gonna need quite a bit of hide and a lot more iron ore. We definitely got our work set out for us.
